ECA Accessibility Webinar Series #1
OVERVIEW: Knowing how to prepare for and safely survive an earthquake is vital for everyone in Earthquake Country. However, for a variety of reasons, it can be challenging to reach people with this important and potentially life-saving information. While language can certainly play a role, often it is situational, location, and socio-economic reasons that messaging does not reach the whole community. The challenge therefore is to identify who we are not reaching, learn how we can connect with them, and make sure we “speak” a language that will be understood.
The goal of this webinar was to engage in a discussion with experts who understand these challenges and how to design accessible approaches for reaching and connecting with everyone. This may also include new efficient and effective communication tools for providing information.
