UPDATE:
Due to the anticipated rain and wind on Saturday, we are scaling back this event. The 2 screenings of the Quake Heroes film inside the Rancho Mirage Public Library are continuing. However, the preparedness information booths and activities planned for outside are no longer possible. We will instead be providing information from several partner organizations, already put together within bags for your convenience! We appreciate your understanding.
If you are already registered, we encourage you to still attend! However if you will not be attending please cancel your reservation (look for a “view order” link on your EventBrite registration confirmation email) so that people on our waitlist can be confirmed.
On Saturday, March 30, a special event for residents of the Coachella Valley will be held at the Rancho Mirage Public Library to raise awareness of what can happen during earthquakes and how we can all improve safety and resilience. The event is hosted by the Rancho Mirage Emergency Preparedness Commission, in partnership with the Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network, the Statewide California Earthquake Center, RomaScope, and many others.
The event will showcase Quake Heroes, a new motivational documentary that blends Hollywood storytelling with real-life heroism from the January 1994 Northridge earthquake. The film was created by SCEC with support from FEMA and many sponsors to inspire individual and community resilience.
