This special FREE event for residents of Venice and surrounding areas will be held at the Oakwood Recreation Center to raise awareness of what can happen during earthquakes and how we can all improve safety and resilience. The event is hosted by City of Los Angeles Councilwoman Traci Park, with support from the Venice Community Resiliency Committee, the Statewide California Earthquake Center, RomaScope, Earthquake Country Alliance, and many others.
The event will showcase Quake Heroes, a new motivational documentary that blends Hollywood storytelling with real-life heroism from the January 1994 Northridge earthquake. The film was created by SCEC with support from FEMA and many sponsors to inspire individual and community resilience.
