Episode 1 of the Northridge 30th Anniversary Webinar Series: The Northridge Earthquake – 30 Years Later – A Catalyst for Engineering Resilient Communities.
Discussions at the UC Berkeley Seismology Lab focused on "slow slip" and earthquakes on the nearby Hayward fault (with a visit afterwards at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory), the Bay Area CERT Coalition, funding opportunities, and plans for the Loma Prieta 35th anniversary.
Learn about the evolution of the tsunami warning system, how climate change affects earthquake risk, funding opportunities to support your activities, and more!
Learn about tsunami hazards in California - where they may start, and updated tsunami hazard maps. Then learn about tsunami alerts and warnings, the state's planned response, as well as what to do before, during, and after a tsunami.
All Californians are encouraged to plan and register their #TsunamiPrep activities (at work, school, and home) to be counted as part of California’s 2024 Tsunami Preparedness Week (March 23 – 31) - or on any other day of the year!
On Saturday, March 30, a special event for residents of the Coachella Valley will be held at the Rancho Mirage Public Library to raise awareness of what can happen during earthquakes and how we can all improve safety and resilience. The event is hosted by the Rancho Mirage Emergency Preparedness Commission, in partnership with the Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network, the Statewide California Earthquake Center, RomaScope, and many others.
Episode 2 of the Northridge 30th Anniversary Webinar Series: The Northridge Earthquake – 30 Years Later – A Catalyst for Engineering Resilient Communities.
This workshop included presentations about potential new earthquake information tools and challenges with earthquake early warning, an overview of earthquake impacts on utilities and other lifelines and how to reduce them, and updates about how to request free ECA printed materials, mitigation materials, and more!
This workshop at the Rossmoor Retirement Community in Walnut Creek included presentations about earthquake hazards in the area, key issues for life after a “HayWired” earthquake, an overview of Rossmoor’s emergency preparedness efforts, and how to get free earthquake education and mitigation resources.
