Learn about tsunami hazards in California - where they may start, and updated tsunami hazard maps. Then learn about tsunami alerts and warnings, the state's planned response, as well as what to do before, during, and after a tsunami.
All Californians are encouraged to plan and register their #TsunamiPrep activities (at work, school, and home) to be counted as part of California’s 2024 Tsunami Preparedness Week (March 23 – 31) - or on any other day of the year!
On Saturday, March 30, a special event for residents of the Coachella Valley will be held at the Rancho Mirage Public Library to raise awareness of what can happen during earthquakes and how we can all improve safety and resilience. The event is hosted by the Rancho Mirage Emergency Preparedness Commission, in partnership with the Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network, the Statewide California Earthquake Center, RomaScope, and many others.

This workshop at the Rossmoor Retirement Community in Walnut Creek included presentations about earthquake hazards in the area, key issues for life after a “HayWired” earthquake, an overview of Rossmoor’s emergency preparedness efforts, and how to get free earthquake education and mitigation resources.

This special event for residents of Gardena and surrounding areas will feature the new "Quake Heroes" film and many information booths/exhibits, with the goal of raising awareness of what can happen during earthquakes and how we can all improve safety and resilience.
Join us in-person to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of the Ridgecrest Earthquake Sequence (M6.4 & M7.1) and the 30th Anniversary of the Northridge Earthquake (M6.7) – with a special screening of the Quake Heroes film, and how you can have an event with it in your community. Plus there will be updates about ShakeOut, ECA materials, and ECA Mini Awards.
Join us for presentations about the 2014 South Napa earthquake, a special screening of Quake Heroes (stories from the 1994 Northridge Earthquake), discussion of plans for the 35th anniversary of the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, and how to get free earthquake education and mitigation resources.
